anyone know like an app for iOS that does nothing but play music you have as a file? No ads or some weird fucking shit like that?
edit: solved
Narrator: EEYIKES! How will "Stanley" get through this "Parable" if we can't even find the story anymore?!

We've decided to return remaining capital back to investors and continue building Modrinth at a sustainable pace, independent of VCs and investors. Read more here: https://blog.modrinth.com/p/capital-return
hi! please take a moment to read up on https://www.stopkillinggames.com – this is an initiative by ross scott (accursedfarms on youtube, aka “the freeman’s mind guy”) to hold game developers and publishers accountable for shutting down game servers for games that were sold as products to consumers, essentially rendering them unplayable.
this is a serious consumer rights issue not just with regards to games being destroyed, but also with regards to the precedent it sets. i don’t know about you, but i don’t want a future of products that just irrevocably break when the vendor wants them to, or loses interest in supporting them.
i especially urge you to take a look and to consider taking action if you bought The Crew, or if you live in France or Germany, as your approaches to this problem are promising to be some of the most effective.
you can also listen to ross explain the whole thing himself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w70Xc9CStoE&t=1s

Very rare fire hackernews comment:
> FOSS as infrastructure doesn't mean every piece of FOSS is. And infrastructure can be incidental. While we're using analogies tortured beyond all meaning, a goat path in the forest is infrastructure if I ride my bicycle on it to get somewhere, but the goat herder was just herding their goats. If you want to rely on something (code, forest path, whatever), you should probably take steps to ensure the longevity and security of that thing, especially if you depend on it to make money. If I really need my goat/bicycle path, I could do path maintenance on it or try to get the government to do it, but complaining that I'm late for work because the goat herder didn't clear a fallen tree that their goats can jump over but I can't bike around is both foolish and obnoxious.

Maybe I should make sure to exclude my soon-to-be 50GB music collection from Tarsnap…
Just stole my parents CD collection. Gonna rip my favorites and put the discs in my car for listening
I like that Minecraft is such a popular and freeform game that people have encountered basically every issue with floating-point numbers that exist. Not that most of them would ever affect people in normal gameplay (e.g. walking for a year+ straight in one direction to hit too large of values, a contrived setup to reach the slowest possible speed in the game to cause your position to be incremented by too-small of a value, falling from particular heights in particular scenarios to hit the non-associativity of arithmetic, etc.)
@m7rk I remember looking that one up, and it kinda does! https://perldoc.perl.org/functions/our
But I guess it’s more for bringing a global variable into local scope.
I have NOT dragonmoded anywhere near enough for quite a long time and I blame that for how I’ve been feeling lately
Tonight in using shell scripts as duct-tape: if the server can’t create the ue0
interface at boot because it can’t connect to the required USB NIC, just reboot it until it can!
